Visit Central Labrador
You can visit Central Labrador via route 389/500 starting your drive at Baie Comeau Quebec, travelling north east to Labrador City and then east past Churchill Falls. Or you can drive from the island of Newfoundland at St. Barbe (a short ferry ride to Blanc Sablon) and then up the Labrador Coastal Drive Route 520. You can also visit by air on Air Canada Jazz or Provincial Airlines from St. John's, Deer Lake, Halifax, or Montreal. Which ever mode you choose, we know you will enjoy your visit.
Please be sure to visit our friends at the Visitor Information Centre in Happy Valley Goose Bay http://www.tourismlabrador.com for more information about tourism products and services.

*The ROAD is NOW OPEN*
The new road link is now open between Goose Bay and Cartwright, on the Atlantic seaboard. Travellers can continue their road trips directly to the Labrador Straits for the ferry crossing of the Strait of Belle Isle from Blanc Sablon, Quebec between May and January.

SAFETY NEWS - There is NO cell phone service on this long route, but the Provincial Government has a program in place for you to "borrow" a satellite phone for use between Labrador City and Goose Bay and Port Hope Simpson. There is NO FEE for this service. Pick up and drop off points at the hotels in each town. For residents of Newfoundland you must provide a drivers licence or credit card. For non- residents, you must provide a credit card. The phones are only for emergency use and are programmed to enable direct calls to the police.
